Baisakhi Mohanty

My first introduction to Gandhian principles was observing my grandparents who practiced truth, non-violence and had strong roots in Swadeshi. Not only did their lives and principles leave  an indelible impression on me but it also taught me that Gandhian philosophy is not a doctrine but a way of life.

I could quote several life experiences when I stood up for truth and injustice or put up a strong resistance to unfair people or practices, eventually realizing that I needed stronger weapons to support the principles I believed in.   My degrees in Social Sciences and Law and finally the creation of Silverline Solutions are efforts to pursue social justice/welfare (sarvodaya) through truth and non- violence. My educational background helps me understand our social system and target social issues more effectively. My goal through Silverline Solutions and Jagruti Cultural Academy is to bring about positive social transformation, one change at a time.

I have worked towards a strong community presence for the past decade through active social work, relief operations and more recently pro Bono services to underserved communities. Being a practicing lawyer in the Odisha High Court and Legal Retainer for KIIT & KISS give me the opportunity to be the change that I have always dreamt of. I truly believe that “ In a gentle way, you can shake the world”.
